COVID-19

Information for foreigners who visit the Balearic Islands for tourism or other temporary activities.

The Interterritorial Health Council in session on March 22, 2022
establishes new criteria for the management of COVID-19

With increased vaccination coverage and immunity generated from natural infections, the majority of the population is considered to be protected against severe COVID-19. For this reason, in this phase of the pandemic, the aim is to favor the normalization of healthcare. To minimize the risks, special attention will be paid to monitoring the areas and groups of vulnerable people.

Do you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19?

The symptoms of COVID-19 are sudden onset.The most common are the following:   fever, cough, feeling short of breath or difficulty breathing, sore throat, loss of smell or taste, muscle aches, diarrhea, headache, tiredness.

General population

Most of people with COVID-19 have mild symptoms and do NOT require health care.

What it has to do?
  • Take steps to prevent infection

    There is no need to isolate or quarantine. In the 10 days after the onset of symptoms, take extreme precautions to avoid transmitting the infection: always wear a mask, wash your hands often, avoid contact with vulnerable people and do not attend large events.

  • Watch for symptoms
    • If you have a fever above 38ºC for more than 3 days or have other symptoms that worsen, go to a private health center or call INFOSALUT CONNECTA 971 220 000. If you feel short of breath or feel seriously ill, contact the Urgent Medical Care Service 061.

Vulnerable population

A diagnostic test and clinical follow-up are recommended for people considered vulnerable because they have a higher risk of severity or poor evolution of the disease.

People vulnerable to COVID-19:

  • Pregnant women  
  • People of any age who are immunosuppressed or are being treated with immunosuppressive drugs  
  • People 60 years and over  
  • Personas vulnerables
    • Mujeres embarazadas 
    • Personas de cualquier edad inmunodeprimidas o en tratamiento con fármacos inmunosupresores 
    • Personas mayores de 60 años  
    • Personas de cualquier edad con enfermedades de alto riesgo: receptores de trasplante de órgano sólido o de médula ósea, personas en tratamiento con hemodiálisis o diálisis peritoneal, personas en tratamiento con quimioterapia o radioterapia, fibrosis quística, síndrome de Down 
      Personas de 14 años y menos con patologías crónicas graves (cardíacas, respiratorias, neurológicas, psiquiátricas) 

What it has to do?
  • Get a diagnostic test

    Where can a diagnostic test be done?

    • In private health centers, paying the corresponding fee.
  • Diagnostic test result

    If the result is negative, the symptoms are considered not due to COVID-19.


    If the result is positive:

    • There is no need to isolate or quarantine. Take extra precautions for 10 days after the start of symptoms to avoid spreading the infection: always wear a mask, wash your hands often, avoid contact with vulnerable people, and do not attend large events.  
    • Notify your contacts so they can take extreme prevention measures and monitor the appearance of symptoms.  
    • Go to a private health center if you have any symptoms, even mild ones.
